Siyakhula Herb Kitchen took the No Surprise Fees pledge after customers at Durban markets asked whether the listed online price included the delivery amount. The small producer blends herbal teas and spice mixes, and many buyers order gift boxes for family in other provinces. Its earlier checkout showed a base price first and revealed courier charges later, making the total feel uncertain. The team changed the page so buyers choose a delivery area and see the full price before paying. It also made a printed price card for market orders, including optional gift packaging. In a three-month comparison, questions about delivery costs fell from 27 to 9, and 16 more customers completed online orders than in the previous quarter. Staff test the checkout on mobile phones each month because many customers shop that way. Owner Zanele Mkhize says the pledge helped the business explain costs calmly and consistently. The team now treats a clear total as part of good service, not an extra feature.
