Rang-e-Raunaq is a Karachi accessories business producing fabric pouches, table runners, and gift wraps in short runs. Founder Sana Qureshi adopted Buy Small to direct a measurable share of purchasing toward independent makers and small suppliers. The business reviewed its usual buying list and identified stitching, labels, and packing materials that could be sourced from smaller local vendors without compromising safe production or consistency. It set a target of at least 20 percent of supplier spending for independent businesses, then began placing test orders before expanding. In its first two quarters, 23 percent of eligible supplier spend went to independent suppliers, including three businesses new to Rang-e-Raunaq. One maker received a repeat order after meeting the agreed finish and delivery standard; another was given feedback and invited to try again with a smaller batch. Sana says the pledge has made procurement less automatic and more thoughtful. The team now tracks spending quarterly, checks capacity before promising volumes, and sees small suppliers as business partners rather than simply another line on a purchase list.
