Pine & Purl Works signed the Hold the Door pledge to make room for a first-time founder who might otherwise struggle to find practical guidance. The Bristol studio sells knitted accessories and offers repairs, and its owners remember how confusing the first months of trading felt. Each quarter, the team will give one new founder a focused session on pricing, supplier conversations, and setting up a simple order tracker. Its first participant was a maker developing naturally dyed scarves. Over four meetings, the studio reviewed a draft price list, introduced the founder to two local market organizers, and helped map the cost of a small production run. The founder later booked a stall and sold 19 pieces at the event. Managing Director Oliver Hughes says the pledge is about sharing useful experience without pretending to have every answer. Pine & Purl Works keeps the support practical and time-limited, and asks each participant what help would be most valuable. The team will select another founder next quarter.
