Officina Lieve makes small batches of ceramic tableware and ships orders to customers across Italy and nearby markets. The studio adopted No Bill at the Door because international buyers had occasionally discovered customs duties only when a parcel arrived, making a gift or planned purchase unexpectedly expensive. The team now provides a pre-payment estimate of duties and import charges where available, explains when a figure is an estimate, and asks its shipping partner to show the information before checkout. If a destination cannot be quoted reliably, customers see that limitation before paying rather than learning it from the courier. In the first two months, the updated process covered 37 cross-border orders, and none of those customers reported an unexpected duty request at delivery. The pledge prompted Officina Lieve to review its shipping language in Italian and English, replacing a dense policy note with a short, readable explanation beside the payment button.
