Nile Reed Workshop is an Alexandria maker of woven storage baskets and simple home accessories. It joined Paid in 15 after several small reed growers and finishing suppliers asked for clearer payment dates. The workshop had usually paid them, but busy seasons and handwritten records sometimes stretched the wait. The pledge prompted the owners to standardize invoice tracking and set a twice-weekly review for bills from small suppliers. If a document is incomplete, staff now contact the supplier quickly rather than letting it sit without explanation. In the first five months, 31 of 34 eligible small-supplier invoices were paid within 15 days, compared with 20 of 33 in the prior period. The owners say this has helped suppliers plan purchases before harvest and has reduced last-minute calls to check whether money is coming. Nile Reed also began sharing a simple monthly production forecast. The team sees the pledge as a promise to communicate and pay promptly, not as a substitute for fair prices.
