Maple Thread Studio is a Winnipeg alterations shop that also makes small runs of work aprons and textile accessories. Owner Priya Sandhu took the Paid in 15 pledge after her fabric and notions suppliers described how unpredictable payment dates complicated their own payroll and restocking. The studio replaced its once-a-month bill review with a twice-weekly process, records delivery confirmation on the invoice, and pays approved bills through scheduled electronic transfers. For invoices with a discrepancy, staff now contact the supplier within two business days rather than waiting until the next payment cycle. Across the first three months, 16 of 17 supplier invoices were paid within 15 days, compared with 9 of 17 in the prior period. Sandhu says the predictable rhythm has helped suppliers hold materials for the studio without requiring larger deposits. The team posts its payment target in the workroom and includes it in new supplier onboarding, making the pledge part of routine purchasing rather than a special campaign.
