Maple & Morrow Goods is a small Halifax shop selling locally made ceramics, stationery, and kitchen textiles. Founder Elise MacNeil joined Paid in 15 because several independent makers depended on each wholesale order to buy materials for the next one. Before taking the pledge, invoices were handled in batches, and a missed weekly review could add another fortnight to a supplier’s wait. Elise moved invoice approval to twice a week, assigned a backup approver, and began confirming payment dates when orders are placed. The shop’s average time to pay its small suppliers fell from 27 days to 14 during its first quarter under the new routine. One ceramicist used the faster payment to buy a larger clay delivery at a better rate. Elise says the number matters, but so does the trust created when makers can plan around a date rather than a guess. The shop now checks the measure monthly.
