Mallee Moon Repairs is a bicycle workshop in Bendigo, servicing commuters, families, and local riding groups. Founder Jack O’Connell took the No Surprise Fees pledge after customers said they wanted to approve a repair without worrying that routine workshop charges would appear on the final invoice. The shop now provides an itemized estimate before work begins, marks optional repairs separately, and gets approval if the expected total changes. Its posted service prices include standard labor, while unusual parts or extra work are explained before they are added. The approach has reduced awkward collection-time discussions and helped mechanics focus on the repair instead of defending an unclear bill. Over a 12-week period, invoice adjustments after customer approval fell from 17 to 4, and 86 percent of repair jobs were completed within the estimate. Jack says a lower estimate is not useful if the real cost is hidden. He signed to make price clarity a routine part of good service, including when a repair needs more than one visit.
