Lilla Lådan Studio designs low-volume packaging for food makers and independent shops in Malmö. Founder Elin Sjöberg joined the Buy Small pledge after realizing that most of its print and finishing budget went to large suppliers simply because their catalogues were familiar. The studio now aims to place at least one in five supplier kronor with independent businesses, including local proofreaders, paper merchants, and short-run printers. In the first six months, independent suppliers received 23 percent of its external purchasing spend, up from 11 percent. Elin says the change has given the studio more flexibility on small batches and brought it into contact with specialists who can advise clients directly. It has not replaced every established supplier; for some materials, larger production runs remain necessary. Instead, the team records spend quarterly and asks whether a suitable independent option exists before renewing routine orders. The pledge has turned that question into part of project planning rather than an occasional afterthought.
