La Casa del Níspero makes soaps and simple skin-care products in Pereira, using plant oils and reusable packaging where practical. Owner Juliana Arango took the Buy Small pledge after realizing that most of the business’s packaging and printing purchases went through a single large distributor. The team made a list of independent suppliers within reach, requested samples, and tested two local sources for labels and paper sleeves. It also set a quarterly review to compare reliability and quality, so local purchasing would remain a considered business decision rather than a slogan. In six months, the share of supplier spending going to independent businesses rose from 16 to 23 percent. One local printer now handles three recurring label orders and has helped reduce the minimum order size, limiting unused stock. Arango says the pledge encouraged the business to ask more questions about who stands behind routine purchases. The company records the supplier category on each order and plans to publish an annual spending summary for its team.
