Our story

Kiesel & Faden is a Leipzig repair shop selling mended clothing and small textile accessories. Its owner, Miriam Vogel, took the No Surprise Fees pledge after customers asked why a quoted repair sometimes ended with an extra charge for thread, collection, or minor adjustments. The shop now gives each customer a written total before work begins and asks for approval before adding any optional service. Its price board also distinguishes standard repairs from work requiring a separate assessment. In the first four months, the team issued 46 written estimates and recorded 11 customer approvals for optional additions before charging for them. There were no unexplained differences between the approved totals and final invoices. Miriam says the clearer process has reduced awkward conversations at pickup and helped customers compare repair with replacement more fairly. The pledge did not require the shop to make every service cheaper; it required the price and its limits to be understandable from the start.
