Dulce Patio Repostería is a Santo Domingo bakery supplying cakes and pastry trays to cafés and neighborhood events. Founder Mariela Peña chose No Surprise Fees after hearing from a café owner who had struggled to reconcile a delivery bill with the original quote. The bakery’s orders are often customized, so Mariela wanted clients to see the cost of decoration, packaging, and delivery before deciding rather than encounter a surprise at handoff. Its new quote form lists each requested addition and provides a final total, while staff confirm any change by message before preparing it. During the first eight weeks, the bakery issued 26 quotes and delivered 22 orders; every final invoice matched the approved quote, including two orders where customers approved a revised design cost in advance. Mariela says the clearer numbers have reduced last-minute disputes and helped smaller cafés choose quantities that suit their budgets. The pledge also gave the team a shared standard for explaining prices.
