Café Bruma del Valle is a San José micro-roaster supplying offices, cafés, and neighborhood grocers. Owner Andrés Quesada took the First Order Terms pledge to make it easier for a new independent shop to test the coffee without paying immediately on delivery. Under the commitment, first-time wholesale customers receive net-30 terms, subject to a simple written order confirmation. Andrés wanted the trial to feel like a genuine business relationship rather than a one-off transaction with all the risk placed on the buyer. The roastery has since offered the terms to seven new accounts, including a family-run bakery and a small hotel. Five have placed a second order, and all seven paid their first invoice within the agreed 30-day period. The policy required the team to improve invoice reminders and keep a modest reserve for receivables. Andrés says that discipline is worthwhile: new customers get time to sell through their first bags, while the roastery gains a fair chance to demonstrate quality and service.
