Banksia & Brine is a Hobart specialty grocer stocking small-batch preserves, pantry goods, and locally made tableware. Co-owner Riley Morgan took Paid in 15 after learning that several makers were waiting weeks beyond agreed terms for money that could have been processed sooner. The shop introduced a weekly invoice check, assigned one person to resolve missing paperwork, and set a payment date no later than fifteen days after a valid invoice arrives. Suppliers receive a short confirmation when payment is scheduled, so they do not have to chase the team. Over five months, 41 of 42 valid invoices were paid within the window, and the average fell from 29 days to 11. The exception was corrected after a delivery note was found in the wrong file. Faster payments helped three makers accept steady monthly orders instead of occasional larger batches. Riley says the pledge has made the shop’s relationship with suppliers more predictable and taught the team to treat paperwork delays as something it must fix, not a reason to keep a supplier waiting.
