Ayo North Table joined No Bill at the Door because its Lagos customers wanted certainty about import charges before paying for specialty pantry goods. The business brings in small consignments of teas, sauces, and baking ingredients, and delivery costs can vary by shipment. The team previously explained some charges only after an order was placed, which created frustration even when the costs were legitimate. It now provides a pre-payment estimate that lists product price, delivery, and applicable duties separately, then confirms any change before collecting payment. In a ten-week trial, billing disputes fell from 12 to 3, and 92 percent of orders had their final charges confirmed before checkout. Staff also created a short guide explaining why duties may differ by product category. Founder Chinedu Okafor says the pledge pushed them to make the landed cost understandable rather than merely defensible. They review estimates against invoices after every shipment and update customers promptly if a charge changes before payment.
