Atelier Brin de Sel is a small soap maker in La Rochelle, selling handmade bars and gift sets at markets and through a modest online shop. Founder Léa Bernard took the No Surprise Fees pledge after noticing that postage and gift packaging could make the final checkout total feel unexpectedly high. The shop now shows delivery costs before payment, includes standard wrapping in the listed gift-set price, and makes premium packaging an optional, clearly priced choice. For orders with special delivery needs, customers receive a revised total for approval before the parcel is sent. The change has made the online shop easier to use and reduced staff time spent explaining charges by message. In the first 10 weeks, questions about added costs fell from 24 to 7, while the proportion of completed checkouts increased from 61 to 68 percent. Léa says customers should be able to compare options with the full amount in view. She signed because a transparent price is a simple promise the business can keep.
