Our story

<p>Dhaaka Thread House is a small sewing cooperative in Dhaka that makes fabric organizers and work aprons for local retailers. Coordinator Farzana Akter took the No Bill at the Door pledge after a customer importing a sample order was surprised by duty charges that had not been made clear before payment. The cooperative now provides an estimated landed-cost breakdown before customers pay, identifies which charges are confirmed and which depend on customs assessment, and pauses the order if a customer needs clarification. For local orders, the team clearly marks that no import duty applies. The new process has reduced confusion for overseas buyers and helped the cooperative plan shipping paperwork earlier. In its first three months, 14 of 16 international orders were accepted without a later price dispute, compared with 8 of 15 before the change. Farzana says an estimate must never be presented as a guarantee, but customers deserve to see the likely costs in advance. She signed to make cross-border buying more understandable and fair.</p>
